Here comes SUZY!

She is our new pup. She is a doberman mix. One said they think doberman/rott another said they think doberman/boxer. I don't realy care because she is a sweetie!

She is 7 months old. She is kennel trained and they gave us her kennel too! She is totally housebroken and she can sit! She has been raised so far around 3 dogs and 5 cats and 4 little kids so she fits well into our family and is use to the noise and energy level that we have. Her previous owner was a sahm to all these pets & kids and her dh is an OTR truckdriver. She is going in for major back surgery and is afraid that she will not be able to keep up with all the animals and kids ... so instead of getting rid of all the kids she decided to find some loving homes for her animals. LOL

We are having a blast with her. She loves to run all over our yard. We have so much space out here that she can run and get the wild crazies out of her.

I absolutely love her! She follows me around everywhere. She has definitely become attached to me!

My Gramma's Hands

These hands, holding a crochet hook and yarn, embellished with rings she has collected through the years, are some of the most beautiful hands I've ever seen. These hands worked themselves raw in factories as she raised her 4 children on her own. These hands are the hands of a nurse by profession and a nurturer by heart. These hands bandaged up my boo-boos and felt for my fevers. They squeezed mine 3 times to tell me "I.Love.You". These hands held my mother as she cried her first cries after birth. These hands held me as I cried my first cries right after birth. These hands held my son as he cried his first cries after birth. She is a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse, wife ... and all around wonderful woman.
I love you gramma.

Araucana's are beautiful!

I'm loving some of our Araucana chicks. They are so beautiful!! :)

Gluten Free Mac & Cheese

Warning - This is super fattening.

1 package Philadelphia Cream Cheese - cut up into smaller pieces
1 bag Tinkyada elbow macaroni
1 small carton heavy cream
3 TBS butter
1/4 cup brown rice flour
Kraft Parmesan cheese
1 TBS minced garlic
black pepper
dill weed(optional)
ham (optional)

Heat a pot of water. Bring it to a boil. Dump in macaroni to cook. Follow directions on the bag.

While that is coming to a boil get a large saute pan and melt the butter. Dump flour into melted butter and let it cook for a few minutes, stirring regularly. Once that has cooked for a few minutes, dump the whole container of heavy cream into the pan. Stir.
Dump cream cheese into the pan with the cream & flour. Keep stirring until fully melted. Add a squirt of mustard, some ground black pepper and salt to your taste preferences. I like to add some leftover ham and/or broccoli here. I sprinkle with some dill weed and then stir more.
Turn down and keep a close eye on it, stirring occassionaly.

Strain & cold rinse your macaroni. Put into a big bowl, dump the cheese sauce over it, stir and then sprinkle liberally with parmesan cheese on top.

A hat for my little cousin

My cousin called me up and asked me if I could sew up a hat for her little baby boy that was thin for spring, but that covered his ears. This is what I came up with. It turned out fitting him perfect. He wasn't at my house, though, to take pics, so Mr. Beary took his spot. :)

Chicken Little

The chicks are getting a little bigger. We've even seen a few feathers coming in! Here's Niko holding one!

Gluten Free Pizza & Wings

It is hard to find a pizza place in our rural area that has gluten free varieties, so I have to make our own. Tonight I whipped up this GF pizza with lots of veggies. :) I also made some VERY nummy (and messy) chicken wings! Woot!

Chirp! Chirp!

The chicks have arrived!! 125 of them to be exact! I can't believe we are now officially chicken farming! I'm so excited to be raising our own meat and eggs. Meat & eggs that we know what has gone into them. That we know are being treated well.
25 Rhode Island Red Cockerels
25 Araucana Pullets
25 Barred Rock Pullets
50 Silver Laced Wyandottes

25 will be going to my sister in law once they get their wings. She will be raising her from then on out.
25 will be going to my mom once they've been culled.
The other 75 will be for our personal use and for other family members that want to buy a few here and there.

Gnomes Home

I participated in a gnome swap on craftster. I painted this woodland gnome. I was kinda impressed with how it turned out.
I also made this gnome shirt. Sorry for the bad pics.
