Down Home With The Usher's

Have you ever watched "Down Home With The Neelys" on the Food Network? They are this lovey-dovey couple that make some INCREDIBLE food.
Tonight we made a couple things from their show. OMG ... it was to die for!!

First we have BBQ Chicken made from one of our roosters and The Neely's BBQ sauce.

Mmmmmm..... it was sooooooo good!! You should really try their awesome bbq sauce!

And then we made "Gina's Green Bean Salad". Mmmm... another 2 thumbs up for this one!

And the best part? They are both gluten free!! Yay for super tasty AND gluten free!!

And look what our little sweeties were doing while dinner was cooking. Hanging out on the new trampoline ...

Thousand Words Thursday

Since Niko's going to be turning 4 in a week and a half, I decided to post him as a baby. We didn't have much money, so I couldn't afford to get all those wonderful photo studio pics done of him. I set up my laundry basket, put some pillows and a blanket in it and laid him down. He was awake and chipper at first, but quickly fell asleep. I ended up getting some of the best pics of him ever, right here in my livingroom. So, without further ado ... here is my lil baby that is going to be turning 4 this coming week!!

Print & Play - Pirate Party

I'm going to be starting a series called "Print & Play" here on my blog. It could be for kids to print out and play around the house, or, as in this instance, for you to print and use for a child's birthday party. Click on the images below to get their full size, and then just print them out!

See them in action!  Please don't mind the VERY dirty face of my little Adrian in this picture, lol.  Everyone loved the whole pirate theme we did.  You can see that my grandmother even got into it! :)

Please be respectful and do not sell these images as your own. Also, if you use these and have a blog or business, please link back to me so people can find out where to get them! Thank you!

Happy Memorial Day!!

We had an awesome holiday weekend! We went and spent the night up at the MIL's on Saturday. DH's aunt, uncle and cousins had come in for a visit. It was great to see some family members we haven't seen in a while! The kids had a great time playing and hanging out with everyone.
Sunday we came home and tried to get the house ready for ...

Monday a bunch of my family members came up and we had a cook out. Lots of kids, lots of food, lots of family, lots of fun! The guys put up the trampoline and the kids had a blast on it. That's Zak (my nephew) reading a book to Kalen (my cousin's son). My nephews & sons are playing on the trampoline and the jungle gym.

Seriously, between the huge swingset, the sandbox, the jungle gym and now the trampoline it is like a kid's amusement park here. Lets not even start in on the wagons, tractors, trucks, bikes & trykes we have! LOL

Anyway... we had an awesome weekend and here are some pics.

PS ... check out the freaky hairdo I have now!

Acacia Tree Painting

This is an acacia tree painting done in acrylics that I did up for my sister. She just moved into a new apartment and has bare walls. Hopefully this will cheer them up a bit! :)

What the hubby made for his mommy

for mother's day.
You know those topsy turvy things that have the upside down plants that you hang on your porch? DH made a couple for his mom for mother's day. He used the instructions here. But then he spiffied it up even more and stole some of my fabric and ribbon to make it pretty. And he got a nice chain to hang it up with as well. His mom really loved it. I think they turned out awesome. :) He's so talented.

Princess Mia

Timmy has a bday party to go to tomorrow for one of his classmates. This is the first girl classmate that has invited him to a party this year. When I called her mom to see what types of things she was into, she told me she LOVES to dress up like a princess. I asked her if handmade gifts were welcome or if they'd prefer store bought and she told me they LOVE handmade stuff, so I got all excited about making a little girl something all princessy! I don't get to do that very often, ya know!

So I went and bought some tulling, pulled out this pink shirt that has been sitting in my craft bin for a year (bought it on clearance for .50) and grabbed the felt.

The end result is ...
A princess crown. It is yellow (golden) on one side and purple with embroidered flowers on the other side.

A shirt with the letter "M" sewn on with sequins.

A pink & purple princess skirt/tutu.

I'm so hoping Princess Mia enjoys her gifts tomorrow!
