A Birthday Hat

A dear friend's birthday is February 1st, so I whipped this hat up for her. She wanted black. She wanted ear flaps. She wanted thick braids. Hopefully this does it for her. (I'm seriously worried she won't, though).

235 Inches of Snow So Far.

Averaging 205 inches of snow each season makes Mayville an excellent winter sports community. Ice fishing, skiing and snowmobiling are popular (although the Village of Mayville never recommends venturing onto any frozen body of water).

I took a couple of the boys out today to run off some excess energy. It was snowing like crazy. We got over a foot of snow just today.

Ami Alien Bunny

Made for a swap. The lady wanted this bunny, but I didn't have pattern, so I used this lavender bunny pattern instead. I tried to make it look as close to that first bunny image as possible. This project took me forever because I kept putting it down. I just got sick of it. Sitting down, it is as tall as a 3 liter bottle. I'm glad I can ship this out tomorrow!

Bella Inspired Hat

A friend of mine is going through a lot right now. She's going through some heavy doses of chemo, and although I'm not sure if she is losing her hair or not, I thought she could use a pretty hat. I decided to try the Bella hat I found on Ravelry. The pattern got a little wonky in some areas, so I had to make some changes. I used 100% cotton yarn, double stranded. It turned out pretty. Not an exact replica, but definitely something inspired by Bella of Twilight.

Blonde Haired Little Girl

I made this cute little girl to match her new mommy. As most of my things are, this was for a swap on craftster.org. I made it using this pattern, adapting it to fit my needs.

Letting the boys know

We held Timmy back from school today and my dh and I drove all of the boys up to the hospital to see FIL. We thought it'd be good for him to see them and for them as well. To let him know he is loved by all of us.
He looked really good today. The boys were wonderful with him. Very gentle and kind. They hugged and kissed him and let him know that they loved him. We didn't stay overly long, but long enough to give him our love.
We still don't have a solid date on when he'll be coming home. Just that it will be within the next couple days. I'm sure he'll be more comfortable being in his own home.

Update on my father-in-law

Today we found out that my mother in law and the doctors have agreed that it is best to discontinue some cancer treatments and it'd be best for my father in law to come home within the next couple days in Hospice care. Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we walk down this hard path. Thank you.

Prayers and Positive Thoughts Please.

My father-in-law has pancreatic cancer. He's been battling it for 9 months or so now. He's having a lot of issues right now and is in the hospital. Things really aren't looking very good. Please, if you pray, say a little prayer for him and for my MIL that is by his side. If you don't pray, any and all positive vibes and thoughts are more than welcome. Thank you.

Is it the gluten? The sauce? The cheese? The pepperoni?

I don't know what it is, but every time my almost 5 year old eats pizza he totally spazzes out for days afterwards. He goes from being a very good acting and obedient boy to being .... well I can't even say what I want to say. Ugh. He can't stop moving. He jumps all over the place. He dances. He waves his arms all over. Walking through the store, I ended up having to put him in the cart because he would not walk with me. So he starts screaming at people when they walk by. In the car he got mad at me and called me a bastard. He torments his brothers and tells them to do things they wouldn't normally do. "Niko, kick mommy!" "Adrian, shove your finger up your nose." So I tell the other two to not do what he tells them to and even went so far as to use my mom's old adage "If your brother told you to jump off a bridge, would you? No? Well then don't listen to him now either."

So you would think the best solution would be to just not give him pizza, right? Yeah, you're right. But honestly, I want to know what it is about pizza that causes this switch to be thrown in his brain. Having one son that has Celiac Disease I'm already on the look out for gluten things. I know that some people have reactions like this to gluten, but T doesn't seem to have reactions to gluten any other time, just in pizza. So, if it isn't the gluten what is it? The sauce? We eat pastas with sauce all the time and he seems totally fine with that as well. The cheese? We eat cheese. We eat pepperoni. He doesn't have issues with them. So please, please explain to me what it is when you combine it all and give it to him as pizza?!?!

I'm at a total loss on this one. Any help would be appreciated. My sweet little boy has turned into a little monster. :( (At least until this wears off in a couple days).

Oh... and when he eats Stromboli (which has all the same ingredients) he doesn't seem to have a reaction either. Just pizzeria pizza.
